The 21 Observatory and Marine Chronometer Calibers
These calibres allowed Omega to attain the ranks of the highest achievers in Observatory timing contests; they were also used in the 1st class chronometers offered to the general public. The present watch is from a series of 66. Chronomètres de Bord Observatoire produced in 1919 and comprising numbers 5337836 through 5337901. This watch was sold to the Swedish military on November 15, 1943, and was one of three watches specially ordered with a silvered dial. It is highly likely that it passed through an Observatory timing competition, due to the fact that the movement is numbered both on a bridge and on the pillar plate beneath the balance.
