A very early, single-handed French Louis XIV Oignon watch with central winding, circa 1690.
Metal case covered with shagreen leather, inside gilt. Verge movement with very early hairspring, only one winding, verge cock bridge decorated with foliage, high and steep fusee, and Egyptian pillars. Magnificent cartouche dial, copper gilt, centre with foliage decoration, iron hand.
