A French striking gold enamel verge pocket watch with date, studded with paste stones, circa 1800.
A gold enamel case with paste stones, enamel dial, ultra-thin full plate movement, three-arm brass balance.
This exceptionally attractive pocket watch has been lavishly embellished with paste stones. Its back is decorated with translucent cobalt blue enamel on engine turned pattern and paillons, with a painting of Venus and Cupid in the centre. The scene is framed by a row of stones and the inscription in Spanish “ata amistad” (friendship).
