An extremely rare verge watch in book form, made by Steiger, probably in southern Germany, circa 1780. The brass and leather case in the shape of a book with gold print is inscribed “Johann Nepomuk Hehl”, who probably was the owner. The rectangular full plate movement is fitted with a verge escapement and winding and regulation.
