An extremely rare gold and enamel form watch probably made for the Chinese market in Germany, circa 1800. This hinged watch is crafted from 18 carat gold, has magnificent polychrome enamel work and is decorated with a ruby and an emerald. The restored white enamel dial has black Arabic hour numerals, an outer minute track, an original hour and a defective minute hand. The movement has a verge escapement.
