This watch was most likely used as a sample for pocket watch decorations. This is evidenced by the two spring covers having different monograms, both in the artistic execution of the engraving and in the letters used (CR and FD). Additionally, an inlaid white enamel plaque is in an artfully engraved frame on the inside lid.
