–
A German lady’s gold, polychrome enamel, and pearl set centre seconds cylinder watch made for the Chinese market, circa 1895. Highly decorative gilded Chinese calibre movement with a cylinder escapement, plain flat three-arm brass balance, and a standing barrel. The white enamel dial features Roman numerals, gold spade hands, and centre seconds, and is signed H. Müller & Co. Shanghai, Sole Agent. The gold case has a polychrome enamel painted flower design on a pale pink guilloché enamel ground, pearl-set bezels and bow, a milled band, a hinged glazed cuvette, and the inside back is marked with Chinese characters, numbered 503, and bears a Swiss gold mark.

The movement is running smoothly. The surfaces are in good aesthetic condition, with some slight dirt and tarnishing, as well as some oxidation on the blued steel screw heads. The dial is in good condition, and the case is generally in good overall condition with some light scratches on the enamel panel. The milling on the band remains crisp, and the covers close securely. The Swiss Helvetia head hallmark is rather rubbed.
