–
An extremely rare German one-handed Renaissance drum-shaped watch, circa 1550. This watch has a gilt case that features Latin engravings on the front. The engraving is from the Book of the Sages, King Solomon, and it references the Law and the Decree as described in the Book of Kings, Chapter 3. The watch also has a gilt metal dial with a single iron hand and a movement with a verge escapement. The watchmaker is Leopold Reicheneder, who was active around 1550, and his signature is on the movement, along with his location of Burckhausen.
