Early gilt metal spherical striking watch

A very rare and early German one handed pre balance gilt metal striking verge watch, circa 1550, later movement, circa 1620, brass plates, verge escapement with foliot.
Gilt dial, external disc with Roman numerals and internal disc with Arab numerals (24 hours), blue steel hand, spherical case engraved and chased.

This type of spherical watch could have been afforded only by the wealthiest of merchants and royalty and was worn on a belt along with a sword and dagger. Though inaccurate in their timekeeping abilities, such items were prized for their beauty and ingenuity.
