A very fine, extremely rare quarter repeating gold and enamel pocket watch with musical movement for the Chinese market, 61 mm, circa 1835 The case is 18k gold, half pearl set pendant, engine turned and translucent silverish blue enamelled back side, the edge with taille d’epargne enamelling in turquoise and gold, polychrome enamel panel in the center depicting a bouquet of summer flowers, reeded band, rim with applied half-pearls, case maker punch mark “LR”. The dial is enamel, radial Roman numerals, blued spade hands. Bridge movement according to Lepine, keywind, frosted, gilt, polished screws, 2 hammers / 2 gongs, 2 barrels, cylinder escapement, three-arm brass ring balance, blued balance spring, chatoned diamond endstone on balance. Musical Movement is brass, disc pinned on both sides, diameter 23 mm, 27 tuned vibrating blades.
