A rare and early gentleman’s Glashütte pocket watch with chronograph and date – manufactured in quality 1A -, circa 1880.
18-carat gold, polished, à goutte case with a gold dome and pusher for chronograph via the crown. Signed enamel dial with radial Roman hours, auxiliary seconds at “3”, subsidiary dial for the indication of the date at “9”, blued spade hands and centre chronograph hand. 3/4 plate movement, frosted and gilt, with mirror-polished chronograph steel parts, ratchet wheel, gold screw compensation balance, florally hand-engraved balance cock, gold lever and escape wheel and chatoned diamond endstone on balance.
