–
An important, extremely rare, one-handed coach clock with hour strike and alarm, circa 1680. The watch is crafted from bronze and coated with fire gilt. It is florally engraved and pierced, with a rear bell. The silver dial has a foliate scroll decor, radial Roman hours, and a central turnable alarm disc with square diagonal cartouches and Arabic numerals. The hand is blued steel. The movement is a full plate, fire gilt, with applied florally engraved and pierced decorations, finely hand-engraved with foliate scrolls, and signed. It has a chain/fusee mechanism, baluster-shaped movement pillars, two barrels for alarm and striking train, two hammers, a verge escapement, a regulator disc, and a locking plate with square diagonal cartouches and Arabic numerals analogous to the alarm disc. The balance cock is very florally engraved and pierced, and the balance itself is a three-arm iron balance.
