Silver Glashütte school watch with gold elements
–
A large Glashütte school watch made by Gumal Schmidt in Glashütte, Germany, circa 1910. The plain case of this watch was crafted from 0.900 silver and features gold elements. It was made by the Stuttgart casemaker Franz Ehehalt. The white enamel dial features black Arabic hours, an outer minute track, outermost red Arabic five minute numerals, subsidiary seconds at 6 o’clock and original gold hands. The movement is equipped with a quality 1B Glashütte precision lever escapement, fine adjusting device, gold lever, gold escape wheel and minute wheel with a gold chaton.
The case and movement bear matching numbers (probably the year of production), and the dial is signed Deutsche Uhrmacherschule Glashütte/SA, F. Ehehalt Stuttgart on the case and Gumal Schmidt Glashütte on the movement.
