A rare single-handed pre-balance spring verge watch, circa 1620.
Silver case, the back side with lavishly engraved oval and round vignettes depicting landscape, wanderer and shermen scenes, geometric patterned bezel, large lateral hinge. Silver case, engraved centre with a wanderer in a rural landscape, inlaid Roman hours, finely cut blued hand. full plate movement, firegilt, signed, baluster shaped movement pillars, chain/ fusee, verge escapement, plain two arm steel balance without spring, florally engraved and pierced balance cock, top lock with blued click work.
