–
A rare and splendid Swiss 18 carat gold and enamel perfume flask with a concealed watch made for the Chinese market, circa 1810. Fire gilded full plate movement with a cylinder escapement, three arm gilded balance, flat balance spring, brass escape wheel and a barrel, the seconds are driven by an additional wheel meshed on the pinion of the escapement wheel.

A case in the shape of an oblong flask with flat edges, the front with two finely decorated panels, the upper half with a painted on enamel fruit basket, the lower part with floral engraving alternating with translucent red and blue enamel. The bottom is hinged and spring loaded to reveal two dials when a small push piece at the side is pressed. The back shows a polychrome enamel vase with flowers, beneath an engraved vase against a blue enamel engraved imitation engine turned background, the border with alternating azure and white enamel in a geometrical pattern, the sides in a classical style with translucent red, blue and green enamel. The screw on enamelled cap reveals a small spatula for perfume application.

A white enamel dial with Breguet numerals, outer minute dots and blued steel spade hands, above a subsidiary white enamel dial for small seconds.

Piguet & Capt. The collaboration between Isaac Daniel Piguet (1775-1841) and Henri Capt (1773-1837) from 1802 to 1811, became legendary for the creation of exceptional timepieces in the early 19th century. Among their most notable achievements were perfume bottles that incorporated miniature watches, thus combining the art of watchmaking with that of perfumery.
–
The dial is in good condition, while the case features finely painted enamel plaques with some small scratches, but also is in overall good condition. There are some small areas of damage to the enamel decoration and there has been some restoration. The movement is unchecked as it is unable to wind, however, the balance rotates freely.
