Gold hunting cased chronograph watch by Julius Assmann
–
A German heavy and very fine Louis-XV Glashütte gold hunting cased pocket watch with chronograph and 30-minute counter, circa 1905.
This hunter watch’s 14-carat rose gold case is decorated with an engine-turned pattern and engraved monogram. The dial is enamel with radial Arabic numerals, outer minute and 1/5 seconds track, subsidiary dials for the 30-minute register, constant seconds, and gold Louis XV hands. And the movement is a frosted gilt 3/4 lever plate movement with gold pallet and escape wheel, jewelled with some set in chatons, engraved balance bridge, column wheel chronograph, and gold screw compensation balance. Dial signed.
The perfect functionality and the quality of the exquisitely finished parts bear witness to the high standard of watchmaking kept by the Julius Assmann company in Glashütte.
