Marine chronometer with eight day movement

An important extremely rare and numbered marine chronometer with eight day movement, made by Barrauds in London, England, circa 1860. The open faced plain and numbered brass case is fitted in to the original mahogany box with ivory plaque with a gimbal suspension. The white enamel dial has black Roman hour numerals, a subsidiary seconds dial with black Arabic numerals at twelve o’clock, an aperture for the unusual power reserve indicator and exceptionally beautiful steel hands. The extremely rare eight day movement has a very fine spring detent chronometer escapement.
Case, dial and movement have matching numbers and the latter two are signed.
