An important English 18 carat gold hunting cased anker chronometer made by Arnold & Frodsham in London, circa 1855. Comes with the original papers and presentation box with a Royal Award, the Gold Medal of Honor, Paris 1855. English precision lever movement in top quality, completely signed and numbered, with screwed gold chatons, a diamond endstone, and chain and worm drive. White enamel dial with radial Roman hours, an outer minute track, subsidiary seconds at 6 o’clock and blued steel spade hands, numbered and signed Arnold & Charles Frodsham No.9188 ADFmsz. Engine turned case of excellent quality with London hallmarks for 1857 and maker’s mark AS.

The watch is in a very rare original box, marked “Gold Medal of Honor Paris 1855” on the outside and the English royal crown, with a dedication on the inside, stating that watchmakers Arnold & Frodsham received this special award for their outstanding timepieces, accompanied by a sum of £ 3,170.
