A heavy English 18 carat gold quarter repeating open faced keyless lever pocket watch, circa 1889. 3/4 Plate gilt finished lever movement, bimetallic compensation balance, swan neck regulator, diamond endstone, quarter repeating on two gongs activated through a slide in the band. Gold cuvette. White enamel dial with Arabic numerals and sunken subsidiary seconds. Plain case, hinged back. Dial and movement signed and numbered, case and cuvette stamped with casemaker’s initials EN for Emile Nicole and London date letter for 1889.
