A Swiss gold, enamel and pearl set open faced quarter repeating pocket watch made for the Chinese market, circa 1820. Gilt brass bridge caliber with standing barrel, cylinder escapement, three armed balance, flat balance spring, repeating on gongs by depressing the pendant. White enamel dial with Roman numerals, sub seconds dial and gold spade hands. Empire style case, spring loaded blue translucent enameled back cover released by a pusher in the band, the band, bow and pendant set with half pearls, gold hinged cuvette with enameled floral decoration. Movement stamped ‘PM’, movement, covers and cuvette engraved.
