Although, according to the signature, this watch was almost certainly produced circa 1820, the calibre and layout of its movement is identical to most of the watches produced for the Chinese Market by Bover and Juvet in Fleurier, circa 1840. Nevertheless, it is one of the earliest watches made for the Chinese market with this particular calibre.
