A Swiss boxed marine chronometer with 32 hour power reserve, circa 1952. Sold to Service Hydrographique on 30 January 1952. Nickel lever movement, highly jewelled, guillaume balance. Silvered dial, Arabic numerals, outer track calibrated for minutes, subsidiary seconds, up and down power reserve indication. Nickel case mounted in a mahogany box. Case and dial signed, movement numbered.

The present example is an interesting timing device used on the French Marine ships and is so called ‘montre de torpilleur’ as it was used on torpedo boats. As inscribed in the inner case, it was last serviced in March 1976 by Paul Rudolf the last official watchmaker of the French Marine.
