A fine American gold open faced pocket watch by Waltham, circa 1860. 15 Jewel movement, gilt ¾ plate, jewels in gold settings, Maltese cross stop work, bimetallic balance, flat spring, unusual whiplash micrometer regulator, key wind and set. White enamel dial, signed ‘American Watch Co’, Roman chapters, subsidiary seconds and blued hands. Engine turned open face case, signed ‘B&J’ with monogram on circular reserve.
