A fine and early English 18 carat gold open faced pair cased verge watch, circa 1696. Gilt finished verge movement, finely pierced and engraved floral and foliage decorated balance cock and foot. Later white enamel dial with Roman numerals and blued steel poker and beetle hands. Plain inner case, sliding winding hole cover, plain outer case. Cases stamped with casemaker’s initials WC and possibly with London date letter for 1696-1697, movement signed and numbered.
