Gilt-brass cylinder watch with centre seconds

A fine and extremely rare English, gilt-brass and enamel, quartz, garnet and paste-set belt buckle fitted with centre seconds watch in leather fitted box, circa 1790. Made for the Chinese market. Oval, centred in the front with the watch, translucent Imperial blue enamel panel on each side with quartz, diamond and ruby coloured pastes around, polished back, and two gilt loops for the belt. White enamel dial, radial Arabic numerals, outer minute/seconds divisions with fifteen-minute/seconds star markers. Gold Arrowhead hands. A frosted gilt, full-plate movement with cylindrical pillars, fusee and chain, cylinder escapement, three-arm steel balance with flat balance spring, single-footed cock.
