A heavy American 18 carat gold hunting cased keyless pocket watch made by Elgin National Watch in Illinois, circa 1873. Model H.H. Taylor, cover and case back are engine turned and engraved with floral motifs, the cover with an escutcheon and a fluted case band. White enamel dial with radial Roman numerals, an outer minute track, subsidiary at 6 and blued steel Breguet hands. A full plate, gilded brass movement, going barrel, gold screwed chatons, straight line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensated balance with gold poising screws and blued steel flat hairspring, polished steel index regulator with long, tall, adjusted. Signature on the dial, case and movement.
