A very rare English 20 carat gold pair cased repoussé pocket watch made by Allen Walker in London, circa 1777. The fine English verge movement featuring a unique balance bridge, decorated with a gentleman’s portrait and a crown above, signed and numbered on the plate. Signed white enamel dial with Roman hours, an outer arcaded minute track, outermost Arabic five minute numerals and gilt open work hands. A repoussé outer case, exceptional work with an extremely high relief and the inner case with London Hallmarks for 1777.

Allen Walker made these special repoussé verge watches with high relief for the Dutch market. This No. 81 is one of the earliest known examples and is in very beautiful condition. An almost matching signed example was auctioned in Geneva in 1994 and sold for an outstanding price.

Allen Walker lived in London from the mid 18th century until 1783. His small clocks are in the London M., Wilsdorf, Dennison and Gélis collections.
