–
A rare and unusual Swiss blackened stainless steel open faced pendant watch, circa 1896. The watch has a 12″ mechanical movement with a lever escapement. It has a black enamel dial with gilded Breguet numerals, outer minute dots, a subsidiary dial for the seconds, and spade hands. The blackened stainless steel case includes a hinged case back and gold bezel surround and is stamped Taubert & Fils. The case, dial, and movement are all signed. It comes with a Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming the year of manufacture as 1896 and sale on 15 October 1898. It is accompanied by a later added blackened gold brooch.

The case is in fair condition, showing surface scratches, wear, and some loss of the black coating on the stainless steel. The brooch is a later addition and not original to the piece. The dial remains attractive and intact, with minor dust and signs of wear. The hands display a natural patina. The movement is functional and running.
