Nielloed silver open faced pocket watch

A fine Swiss, nielloed silver, open faced, keyless pocket watch, circa 1895. Commemorating the Tir Cantonal Vaudois in Yverdon in 1899. A massive case, bezel and band with grapevine and grapes decoration, the back decorated with a soldier waving his hat in front of the Chateau d’Yverdon (hinge broken). Hinged silver cuvette. White enamel dial with black Arabic numerals, outer minute track with Arabic five minute markers, subsidiary seconds. Blued steel hands. A rhodium-plated movement, 19 jewels, straight-line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, Breguet balance spring, index regulator. Dial signed.
