A very rare Silver pocket watch for the Chinese market with the so-called Zodiac dial, circa 1875.
Gilded and entirely foliate engraved Fleurier movement, Chinese calibre, 16 jewels, free-standing barrel, counterpoised lateral lever escapement, pendulum, bimetallic compensation balance, white metal flat balance spring, index regulator. Polished silver case with spring-loaded, factory glazing, Hallmarks London 1876, signed in Chinese. Very rare Chinese zodiac enamel dial (professionally restored), radial Roman numerals, outer Chinese numerals and minute track, central seconds, and blued steel hands.
