A rare and fine English 18 carat gold and ruby set quarter repeating pocket watch, circa 1830. Gilt cylinder movement, plain three arm balance, hammers striking on gongs, pendant repeat. Gold cuvette. Gold matte chapter ring with engine turned center and Roman numerals. Case chased with foliage set with rubies, with similar decoration to the bezel and pendant. The cuvette and dial signed, the case with London gold mark stamped with the casemaker’s mark ‘LC’ (Louis Comtesse).
