A fine and rare, ultra slim, French gold and enamel open faced pocket watch with virgule escapement, circa 1800. Gilt full plate movement, virgule escapement, the movement exposed on the backplate. White enamel dial, Arabic numerals and unusual gold hands. Case back decorated with polychrome enamel scene depicting two classical figures standing in a garden, an urn burning incense to the right, all against translucent blue enamel over a radiating engine turned ground, the bezels finely decorated with enamel and gilt designs.
