Exceptionally large precision lever watch
–
An exceptionally large, special IWC gold hunting case pocket watch, almost as good as new, made by the International Watch Company in Schaffhausen, Switzerland, circa 1910. The numbered case of this watch is crafted from 14 carat gold and features a 4 way stepped bezel, both lids with sunray embellishments and a monogram “AV” on the back. The cream painted enamel dial features an outer track with Arabic numerals for the hours, a subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o’clock and blued steel hands. The numbered movement is equipped with a precision lever escapement with gold chatons and a fine adjustment.
The dial and cuvette are signed.

4 way stepped edge
4 way stepped case edges (often described as “stepped bezels” or a multi stepped case design) refer to a decorative and functional case construction where the bezel (the ring holding the crystal) or the back cover features a series of concentric, terraced levels – usually numbering three to four – that step down in diameter towards the glass or the center of the back.
