Gold anker chronometer
–
A hunting cased anker chronometer pocket watch made by Alex Hüning in Geneva, Switzerland, circa 1910. All three lids of the numbered case of this watch are crafted from 14 carat pink gold, of which the front cover is monogrammed and the cuvette signed L. Borné Hofuhrmacher, Darmstadt. The white enamel dial has Arabic hour numerals, an outer minute track, a subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o’clock and pink gold hands. The movement has a very fine anker chronometer escapement with fine adjustment.
Dial and cuvette signed.

Alexander Hüning
Alexander Hüning was born in 1855 and died in 1931. He was most likely a native of Germany who went to Geneva around 1880 after completing his apprenticeship. Alexander became a citizen of Geneva in 1898. In 1893, Hüning and Emile Fiebiger established their company Fiebiger & Hüning, at 13 Rue de Lévrier in Geneva, which Hüning continued after Fiebiger’s death. He was particularly known for his fine, complicated pocket watches of supreme quality.
