Gold hunting cased keyless lever watch with matching chain
–
A fine Swiss 14 carat yellow gold full hunter pocket watch made by Tellus, circa 1920s. It features a mechanical crown winding bar movement calibre 517 B with a lever escapement, a compensation balance wheel, and a Breguet hairspring. The gold dial has raised gold Arabic numerals 1 to 12 for the hours, a secondary 13–24 hour scale inside the outer minute track, a subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o’clock, and gold cathedral hands. The timepiece is housed in an engine turned two cover 14 carat solid yellow gold hunting case with a vertical pinstripe guilloché pattern, an unengraved shield cartouche on the front cover, a decorative bow, and a gold plated metal inner protective cuvette. The pocket watch comes with its matching 14 carat yellow gold pocket watch chain.

Tellus, a historic Swiss watchmaking manufacturer registered under the Cortébert Watch Co. network in the early 20th century, was renowned for crafting robust and reliable pocket watches with fine mechanical movements. In the 1920s, the brand produced elegant timepieces using slim bar movements like the calibre 517 B, housed in refined, engine turned gold hunting cases that reflected the geometric design sensibilities of the Art Deco era. Dial layouts with an additional 13–24 scale alongside the minute track were popular during this interwar period to facilitate reading military and international 24 hour time.
