An extremely rare small marine chronometer

An extremely rare, small Marine chronometer, made by Longines Francillon SA in Saint Imier, Switzerland, circa 1931. The watch is mounted with a gimbal suspension and screws into the numbered original mahogany box and features a very high quality 18 or 14 Carat gold case. The silvered dial is marked “Chronometre” and features an outer minute and hour track with Arabic hour numerals, a subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o’clock, a power reserve indicator at 12 o’clock and blued steel hands. The extremely rare Longines chronometer caliber is equipped with a detached Swiss lever escapement, 19 jewels, a fine adjustment, has Geneva striping decoration and is marked “Chronometre” and “8 Jours”.
Box and movement bear matching numbers and the dial and movement are signed.
