An exceptionally large high quality split seconds chronograph with counter, made by Longines in Saint-Imier, Switzerland, circa 1920. The plain open faced case of this chronograph was crafted from 18 carat gold and has a cuvette marked “Chronografo Contador” and is engraved with seven Grands Prix medals. The white enamel dial has a red Arabic numerals outer scale for 13 to 24 o’clock, a black Arabic numerals scale for 1 to 12 o’clock, a subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o’clock, a 30 minutes counter at 12 o’clock and blued Breguet steel hands. The movement has a lever escapement, split seconds and counter and Geneva striping decoration.
The dial and cuvette are signed.
