An extremely rare French, 18 carat yellow gold keyless pocket chronometer, circa 1907. With a chronograph and carillon minute repeater. Accompanied by a fitted box and the Bulletin de premiere Classe de l’Observatoire National de Besancon, in 1908. Retailed by Charpentier. A massive, polished case, hinged gold cuvette, outside cover with applied monogram. White enamel dial with Arabic numerals, outer minutes ring and sunk subsidiary seconds, subsidiary dial for 30 minute counter and pink gold spade hands. Gilt brass movement, 20 jewels, counterpoised straight line lever escapement, cut bimetallic balance adjusted by Jaccard, blued steel balance spring with terminal curve. Signed on the case and movement.
