This watch comes from one of the most famous series of Patek Philippe watches, most of which, including this one, had Victorin Piguet ebauches.
They were of the highest quality made by Patek Philippe. The most complicated Patek Philippe watch at the time, now known as The Graves Watch. (sold at auction for over $11,000,000.00 in 1999) also comes from this series (No. 198385).

Victorin Piguet (1850-1937): A legendary maker of complicated ebauches, his ebauches were used by Patek Philippe, Vacheron Constantin, and Breguet, for their special projects. Piguet started in Geneva in 1880, under the name “V. Piguet et Frères”. Three years later, he returned to his native Vallée de Joux.
