An interesting, very early, Swiss gold collector’s pocket watch, for IWC collectors, with open-face, circa 1887-1888.
14K gold, engine-turned case, engraved cartouche with a monogram, case number 41997, work number 31918, case and work hallmarked with the early IWC hallmark. Particularly beautiful enamel dial with Arabic radial hours, outer minutes track with blue Arabic five minutes numerals, subsidiary dial for the seconds, and red gold Louis XV-style hands. Fine gilt lever movement with 3/4 main plate, bimetallic balance with screws, Breguet hairspring, fine adjusting device, screwed chatons, lever escapement, polished winding wheels, crown winding.
