Gold open faced keyless lever watch with vest chain
–
A fine Swiss 18 carat yellow gold open faced gentleman’s pocket watch with date, made by Lorenz Edox, circa 1960. It has a mechanical crown winding movement with a manual lever escapement, monometallic balance, and flat hairspring, signed Lorenz Edox. The silver dial features applied baton hour markers, a fine outer minute track, a date aperture at 6 o’clock, and sleek hands. The timepiece is housed in a smooth round two body, 18 carat solid yellow gold open faced case with a plain polished snap back cover, fluted winding crown, and sturdy round suspension bow. The watch comes with a matching 18 carat solid yellow gold gourmette vest chain with a spring ring fastener, secure swivel clasp clip, and its fitted presentation case.

The collaboration between Lorenz and Edox in the mid twentieth century produced highly streamlined modern luxury dress watches. Traditional pocket watch architectures were refined into thin profiles with integrated contemporary complications such as the quick change date window.
