Gold open faced minute repeater by Patek Philippe
–
A very fine and rare Swiss 18 carat gold open faced minute repeating lever pocket watch, circa 1892. Retailed by Cook & Jacques. The watch features a high grade precision lever movement that repeats the hours and minutes. It is adorned with Geneva striping decoration, wolf’s toothing, and a specially balanced lever. The dial is white enamel with black Dauphine hour markers. The outer minute track has red Arabic numerals for five minute intervals, subsidiary seconds, and Louis XV style hands. The plain case is 18 carat pink gold, complete with a cuvette and a hinged case back. The case and movement are signed by the maker, and the dial and movement are further signed by the retailer. The watch is accompanied by a Patek Philippe presentation box.
–
Additionally, it is delivered with the Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives, which confirms the production of this watch with an enamel dial, Dauphine numerals, red minute figures, and a subsidiary seconds dial in 1892 and its subsequent sale on November 16, 1892.

The movement is in working condition. The minute repeating is in phase and chimes with a nice tune. However, the repeating is a little slow and requires servicing. The crystal shows minor signs of wear; however, the dial is in impeccable condition while retaining its original features. The case is in very good overall condition for its age. Minor signs of wear are visible to the naked eye, but the hallmarks remain crisp, and there are no signs of restoration. The case is very crisp, and the hinges are nice and tight.
