Gold open faced pocket watch by Du Bois & Fils

A fine Swiss, 18K gold, quarter repeating pocket watch with ruby cylinder escapement, circa 1820. An Empire case, Mastermark FHM, reeded band, polished bezels, the back engine-turned with a sunray pattern and engraved initials in a cartouche, bolt at 1 o’clock for locking the repeat. Hinged gilt cuvette. White enamel dial with Breguet numerals and outer minute track. Blued steel Breguet hands. A gilt brass, standing barrel, jewelled ruby cylinder escapement with steel escape wheel, plain three-arm balance, blued steel flat balance spring, index regulator, repeating on gongs activated by depressing the pendant. Dial and cuvette signed.
