Gold open faced manual wind lever watch

A fine Swiss 18 carat yellow gold open faced pocket watch, circa 1842. This watch has a mechanical manual wind movement featuring 17 jewels, a straight line lever escapement with a Breguet hairspring, and screwed chatons; the inner gold cuvette is officially engraved: Ancre Ligne Droite, Spiral Breguet, 17 Rubis, Chaton. The white enamel dial shows black Roman numerals for the hours, outer black Arabic numerals at five minute intervals, an outer minute track with small dots, a subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o’clock, and rose gold Louis style hands. The timepiece is housed in an 18 carat yellow gold open faced case featuring a fluted winding crown and a polished back cover, centrally engraved with stylised interlocking monogram initials bordered by rich floral scrollwork.
