Gold pocket watch with dedication
–
A fine Swiss 18 carat yellow gold open faced pocket watch, made by Patek Philippe & Cie in Geneva, circa 1896. This watch features a hand wound mechanical lever movement, signed and numbered on the plates by Patek Philippe & Cie. The white enamel dial is signed by Patek Philippe & Cie and displays black Roman numerals for the hours, Arabic numerals and a scale for the minutes, a subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o’clock, and spade hands. The round 18 carat yellow gold case features a back cover adorned with a chased MH monogram. The yellow gold inner cuvette is signed and numbered on the outside and inside. It is engraved with the dedication Hector Houdou 1896, suggesting this piece was presented as a distinguished personal gift in that year. The case, cuvette, and movement are signed and numbered. The watch bears both the Patek Philippe house hallmark and the Swiss gold hallmark, confirming its authenticity and 18 carat gold content throughout.
