Gold open faced keyless lever watch
–
A fine Swiss 18 carat yellow gold open faced ladies’ pocket watch made by Vacheron & Constantin for retailer J. E. Caldwell & Co. in Philadelphia, circa 1900. It has a mechanical manual wind crown movement with a lever escapement and stone pallets. The white enamel dial shows black Arabic numerals for the hours, blue Arabic five minute markers along an outer minute track, a subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o’clock, and spade hands. The dial bears a crisp signature for J.E. Caldwell & Co. beneath the 12 o’clock marker. The timepiece is housed in a smooth three body, 18 carat solid yellow gold open faced case with a polished bezel, a fluted winding crown, and a round suspension bow. The solid yellow gold back cover is intricately engraved with a personalised monogram reading AMA.

The watch is accompanied by a long matching yellow gold rope twist watch chain fitted with a classic swivel clasp.
