A fine yellow gold and enamel open faced watch, made in 1920, retailed by Davis & Hawley, Bridgeport & Waterbury, Connecticut. Manual winding movement, 18 jewels, cut bimetallic compensation balance, gold cuvette.
White enamel dial, black painted Arabic numerals, blued steel Breguet hands, subsidiary seconds, outer minute track, 18k yellow gold case, arabesque style champlevé enamel bezel and band, hinged case back with highly decorative arabesque style champlevé enamel, case and dial signed by the maker, cuvette and movement signed by maker and retailer.

Accompanied by a Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming the date of sale on December 15th, 1920, with Greek-style Arabic numerals. The case back, band, and bezel with arabesque style engraved motifs on black enamel.
This watch is a fine example of Patek Philippe’s attention to detail and commitment to creating individually customized pieces at the request of important clients and retailers. The case is well preserved and adorned with beautifully engraved motifs on black enamel.
It is very common to see the retailer’s signature on Patek Philippe dials and movements. The present watch is double signed on the movement to include the retailer, Davis & Hawley, Bridgeport & Waterbury, Connecticut. Davis & Hawley was one of the oldest jewellers in Bridgeport, CT, and offered exceptional jewellery and timepieces in the New England area in the late 19th and early 20th century.
