Gold quarter repeating verge

A French 18 carat gold, enamel and rose cut diamond set quarter repeating pocket watch, circa 1780. A Louis XVI case, the bezel set with rose cut diamonds within a chased gold leaf and berry border highlighted with translucent green and red enamel. The pendant is set with a large diamond, and the bow is further set with diamonds. The back is decorated with translucent royal blue enamel with an applied diamond set lattice. The outer border is decorated to match the bezel.

White enamel dial with radial Arabic numerals, outer minute track with Arabic five minute numerals. Rose cut diamond set fleur de lis hands. Matte gilt full plate, fusee and chain, verge escapement, three arm brass balance, flat balance spring, pierced and chased continental cock with polished steel endplate, silvered regulation dial, repeating on a bell in the back of the case activated by depressing the pendant. Dial and movement signed.
