Small and rare marine chronometer
–
A very small and rare marine chronometer made by Longines in Saint-Imier, Switzerland, circa 1950. The brass open faced case is mounted in the mahogany box with a gimbal suspension and the silvered dial has Arabic hour numerals, a subsidiary seconds dial at six o’clock, a 50 hour power reserve indicator at twelve o’clock and blued steel hands. The numbered Longines movement has an anker chronometer escapement, Geneva striping, a chronometer balance and a cam type fine adjusting device.
Box, dial and movement are signed.
