An American nickel plated, open faced keyless pocket watch by The Waterbury Watch Co, Connecticut, circa 1890. An engine turned case back, with, in the center, an escutcheon inside a belt design. The center of the dial is skeletonized, with a further white enamel chapter ring with Roman numerals and blued steel American Spade hands. A gilt metal movement, large going barrel on the backs, duplex escapement, monometallic brass balance and blued steel flat hairspring, blued steel index regulator. Signature on the cuvette.

Movement based on the American invention patent No. 204000, delivered on May 21, 1878, to D. Azro A. Buck, Worcester, Massachusetts, for a watch.

The Waterbury Clock Company factory is a historic complex of factory buildings in Waterbury, Connecticut, U.S.A. Development began in 1873, with the extensive plant serving as the company’s main manufacturing facility and headquarters until 1944. The company is now known as the Timex Group U.S.A. and was, for a tim,e one of the world’s largest manufacturers of pocket watches. The surviving elements of the manufacturing complex were listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982. The property has since been subdivided and is home to a variety of primarily industrial or commercial uses.
